Today, Baxter provides one of the broadest PN portfolios globally, which includes premix IV solutions, vitamins and lipids, as well as pharmacy workflow management, labeling, compounding technology and enteral nutrition syringes and accessories. PerkinElmer is a specialist in the identification of disorders during pregnancy and in the first days of a baby’s life. Our focus is on just those diseases where early detection can allow effective treatment. Over the past 25 years PerkinElmer screening tests have been used to check many millions of pregnancies or newborn babies, and it is estimated that currently some 50 babies per day, somewhere in the world are able to move forward to a healthy childhood because their disorder was detected in time by a PerkinElmer test.

During pregnancy, we have pioneered new screening methods for pre-eclampsia which will identify high risk pregnancies already during the first trimester. There is growing evidence that early treatment of the high risk cases can delay or prevent the development of the disease.

Premium Partners 2012

Abbott has partnered with EFCNI since 2008, supporting the organization’s efforts to increase awareness of the many challenges associated with preterm birth and improving the quality of care available for preterm infants.

Abbott is committed to bringing together diverse stakeholders to find new solutions for patients, caregivers and societies around the world.

Abbott is a global, broad-based health care company devoted to the discovery, development, manufacture and marketing of pharmaceuticals and medical products, including nutritionals, devices and diagnostics. The company employs nearly 90,000 people and markets its products in more than 130 countries.

The fantastic progress in the delivery and treatment of small and very small preterm infants presents new challenges for nutrition and care. Nestlé Nutrition has always been invested in the research and development of products for specific nutritional needs. It has therefore created the world’s largest research center in the field and an international network of collaboration with doctors and scientists. Resulting solutions can be tailored to specific nutritional requirements, as is the case with the special stage concept, elaborated to suit the changing needs of a developing preterm infant. Nestlé Nutrition has also developed a protein (hydrolysate) that provides allergy prevention proven to be effective.

The first small patient ever given Henri Nestlé’s “infants’ flour” was, in 1867, a preterm infant the doctors had already given up on. Little Charles Wanner went on to live for more than sixty years.
