Vivere Onlus composed a song for parents with babies at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Our Italian partner organisation Vivere onlus composed a song “io ti aspetto lo stesso”, to raise awareness for preterm birth. When a baby is born too soon or ill, the time ahead for parents can be stressful and emotionally challenging. This song reflects the feelings of a mother which are filled with anxiety but also trust and confidence in her child.

The storyline of the song is based on a true story: Barbara Melotto gave birth to her son after only 23 gestation weeks in 2012. Her friend Federico Spagnoli, who is a songwriter for Italian singers, was so moved by her experiences that he composed “io ti aspetto lo stesso”. Barbara Melotto herself sings the song. Since then, the song was translated into English, “I just wait for your life”, and is also beautifully interpreted by her.

The songs purpose is to grant parents access to all neonatal and pediatric intensive care units 24 hours a day.

You can listen to the song in Italian here or in English here.
